Home cultivation Kits

Due to the difficulty of keeping a varied stock of kits as well as trying to grow mushrooms commercially. We have decided that the only kits we can supply are of the species we are growing for commercial mushroom sales. There are many potential mushroom kits possible from a variety of species and different varieties may be found from other suppliers on the internet.

We grow shiitake on sawdust blocks indoors year round and can generally supply shiitake kits on a yearly basis.

For details on each kit, click on the picture or the button on the sidebar.

We are also experimenting with growing Reishi, Maitake and King Oyster buried outdoors in beds. The blocks are produced during March & April and will be buried in April &  May. We expect fruiting in the fall. Kits of these species will be available only during our annual production cycle -- March to April.  Orders can be placed before March for delivery during April/May.

Pricing: All kits are CDN$ 25.00  plus shipping

Availability: We ship kits in the spring (April - June) and in the fall (September - mid December) because kits are live organisms that are perishable and are susceptible to damage from freezing or over heating during shipping.

We are often asked for Morel or Portobello Kits.

Morels can only be cultivated outdoors as "Habitat kits", in other words a suitable spot must be found to approximate the natural growing environment (more on this in our information sheets).  Portobello ( Agaricus crimini ) are fully grown out Brown Button mushrooms ( a variant of the White Button mushrooms) and are cultivated on composed straw and manure.

We currently DO NOT carry either of these kits.

For a good description of how to grow white button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) or brown button mushrooms and Portobello (Agaricus crimini) check out this web site:

Do a search on the Web for "mushrooms" and something will turn up.
